Minimally Invasive Surgery in Ghana

Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is transforming surgical care by reducing recovery time, minimizing pain, and improving patient outcomes. HealthFlux, in collaboration with Ambe Brown Medical Consultancy, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, and the University of Ghana Medical School, is leading efforts to expand the adoption of MIS techniques in Ghana.

While laparoscopic procedures for conditions like appendicitis and gallbladder disease are well-established, HealthFlux has pioneered laparoscopic surgeries for complex procedures such as Heller’s myotomy, fundoplication, and gastrointestinal cancer surgeries—marking a groundbreaking advancement in Ghana’s surgical landscape.

A key milestone in this initiative was the Laparoscopic Masterclass (July 12–14, 2024) at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. This intensive training provided surgeons with hands-on experience, ensuring that Ghanaian healthcare professionals remain at the forefront of surgical innovation.
